The richest girl in town.
More proof that Audre Lorde's "The master's tools will never dismantle the master's house" continues to be one of the most misunderstood and misquoted lines ever. It's amazing the amount of crap people continue to saddle that woman with, years after her death.|
elusis, I need that necklace.
In other news, I am sick, and being sick makes me cranky.
I stopped reading Bitch for a couple of years after they printed an interview question that was 180 degrees off the original intent. I forgave them but ast the time was like, "How can a feminist magazine justify this making it to print?"
The only way such a thing could be worse would be if the gist of the interview were skewering others for doing that very thing.
Which would be the case in this latest example of Lorde's words being misused.
aw crap, did you get my ill? It is a no fun sick, i tell you that.
Are you at work or home?
Who's misquoting Audre now?
I'm at work, cuddling your pillow. Spent most of last night with a headache and a hacking cough. Ate a clove of garlic, took a bunch of echinacea, and drank tea. I'm feeling better today, but not great.
moo. I'm still in the city. are you going straight home after work?
did you drive?
I did, and I am. Wanna ride? I get off at 6. Why are you in the city today?
I have my car. I was gonna offer you one.
I crashed here last night. N's at school and i'm just putzing at his place. I should be studying but the net has sucked me in.
When are you heading east? I think I may take off early and work from home.
ooh, really? hrm.. I'm undecided. it's getting late enough that I might just keep studying here and then head home after 7. I have a 6pm conference call anyway. And I fucking hate bridge traffic.
What happened? Who misunderstands her? I was obsessed with her in college. Read everything she ever wrote, wrote and performed a one-woman play about her and some of her thoughts to Mary Daly...
Did you get my email intro to onceupon
? She would be very glad to make you one.
I did. I need to check out her Etsy store.
Indeed. It is highly worth doing so.
