There's the trip to Cuba and how triggering that was in some ways being a Black American who grew up in racist-ass Miami Beach surrounded by Cubans and Cuban Americans in the 80s and 90s and their imported racism and US flag-waving jingoism while Haitians without the privilege of Cold War-era preferential wet-foot/dry-foot immigration policy fleeing the most entrenched poverty in the western hemisphere as well as political repression so severe that children had limbs cut off as warnings to their parents not to vote in the free election for Jean-Bertrand Aristide were immediately deported to...Guantanamo before being processed back to Haiti.
Yeah. And then there's the inauguration that we were trying to avoid and its aftermath.
Also, a whole bunch of other stuff.
But I haven't had time and am at this point so completely emotionally wrung out that piecing together a sentence is so hard.
