Nearly a century. That's a lot of life and a lot of history. You are lucky to have shared so much life with her.

My deep sympathies for your loss, dear friend.

OH, oh, oh, oh, oh I know how much you loved her.

And you wrote about her so beautifully that I am now here in tears over her, that strong, smart, loving, fighting woman. I feel like I knew her.

I am deeply sorry for your loss. For the world's loss.

i am very sorry to hear she no longer dwells with you (and the rest of us) on this earth, but it seems that -- despite these sad final days and months -- she is remembered in so many incredible ways.
and you...you've been so amazing through all of this. above and beyond and around and back again. bravo to her for her long life, bravo to you for overcoming so many obstacles and never quitting her. truly incredible love and perseverance.

One thing I know about loss is that sometimes the sympathy and support of others has nothing to do with what one is actually feeling and actually needs. What does my sympathy mean when I don't actually know what you're going through, when your pain has a shape all its own that no one else knows, that no one else can know?

Speaking for myself, after my mother died there were times when I wanted to punch the nose of the next person to say to me, "I feel sorry for your loss."

Hugs if you want 'em, and a meaningful and supportive nod and wink from across the room if you don't. And this is probably not a good time to punch anyone in the nose; at least, before you do you should pause for a moment and think "Does this asshole really deserve it?".

I hope that you are getting all the care and support that you need. Having just lost my grandfather last year, I realize that I can't know how you're feeling at all. I barely knew myself, at the time, except that work and other distractions helped more than any amount of sympathy.
